Facade modeling requirement by the client
The client has delivered several high-value commercials, residential and industrial construction projects. For one of their critical health care facility project, the client wanted eLogicTech’s assistance in developing a LOD 350 and LOD 400 facade model. The client wanted our structural engineering team to provide precise Revit models as per their design that included the exterior wall facades, pre-finished aluminum plate panels system, thermal clips with screws system, pre-fin metal horizontal siding, semi-rigid mineral insulation, parapet cap, etc.
Challenge that the eLogicTech team overcame to deliver 500K SFT project
It was a huge project with close to 26K SFT site area, 47K SFT parking space, and over 427K SFT office space. Though the client had provided designs in the form of AutoCAD files, there were still many details missing for which our team had to proactively discuss with the client.
Also, on many occasions, our team had to develop the model based on our own sectional visualizations, which were not present in the designs with the client’s approval.
Process Outline for the Facade Modeling Project
Adhering to the three-month timeline, eLogicTech formed a team of four Revit specialists to work on the project. The process for the project was as follows:
Our team had repeated discussions with the client through conference calls to understand the requirements clearly. The designs in the form of AutoCAD files and PDF were referred to and visualized internally to develop the model precisely.
Façade elevations and ceiling plans were developed as per the design by using the curtain panel family, nested families, Ceiling families, and generic family, etc.
The daily work progress was updated through email, and the progress model was shared with the client at the end of every day through Dropbox.
In case of issues, while developing the model, we raise clarification requests with the client as PDF markups and took confirmation from the client.
The Building Development Standards were followed as specified by the client.
After a stringent QC process, the following deliverables were sent to the client through Dropbox:
- Facade elevations
- Sectional details
- Enlarged Plan details
- Ceiling plans
- Enlarged ceiling elevation
