Data Center Steel Structure Revit Modeling & Documentation

Project Overview

The Data Center project involved the development of a Data Center floor support system within an existing steel building structure. Given the mission - critical nature of data center facilities, the client required highly accurate Revit modeling, erection plans, and steel shop drawings to ensure constructability, safety, and seamless coordination with existing conditions.
eLogicTech was engaged as a specialized structural production partner, supporting rapid modeling and documentation under a compressed timeline.

Client Requirements & Inputs

The client provided:

  • PDF reference drawings
  • Email - based technical instructions
  • Weekly coordination meetings to address evolving requirements

Based on these inputs, eLogicTech was tasked with developing construction - ready documentation aligned with industry best practices and real - world site constraints.

Scope of eLogicTech Services

Revit-Based Structural Modeling

  • Developed detailed Revit models for Data Center floor support systems
  • Integrated new steel elements with the existing building steel structure
  • Ensured accuracy for downstream fabrication and erection

Construction & Shop Drawings

  • Prepared A - B plansanderection plans considering existing conditions
  • Developed shop drawings for steel elements, supporting fabrication and on - site execution
  • Delivered coordinated PDF drawing sets ready for construction use

Key Challenges

1. Erection Plan Development within an Existing Structure

Coordinating erection plans for a Data Center floor within an already - built steel structure required careful consideration of load paths, connections, and constructability.

2. Lack of Standard Reference Drawings

During shop drawing development, no standardized reference details were provided, increasing the need for engineering judgment and best - practice decision - making.

eLogicTech’s Solution Approach

eLogicTech addressed these challenges through a methodical, expertise - driven workflow:

  • Step-by-step evaluation of structural requirements
  • Continuous clarification during coordination meetings
  • Application of industry best practices and project - specific constraints
  • Close alignment between modeling, erection logic, and fabrication needs

This ensured accurate deliverables despite limited upfront references.

Deliverables

  • Revit structural model
  • A - B plans and erection drawings
  • Steel shop drawings (PDF format)

All deliverables were issued within the committed schedule.

Measurable Outcomes & Client Benefits

✔ On - time delivery achieved despite a tight 2 - week schedule

✔ Reduced design rework through clear coordination and clash avoidance

Improved constructability through accurate erection planning

Strengthened integration of new steel systems within existing structures

This project also reinforced eLogicTech’s expertise in handling complex steel structures for data center environments.
