Shop Drawing and Erection Drawing Requirement of the Client

Our expertise in Tekla and structural engineering services, structural drafting, structural modeling, structural shop drawing, and rebar services compelled the client to contact eLogicTech Solutions. The client wanted us to develop steel shop and erection drawings for their commercial Sky bridge project. The input provided to us was the design drawings of the project in PDF format.

Challenges Encountered by the eLogicTech Team

We fetched the accurate measurement and dimensions with different angles from the drawing PDFs provided to us by the client for developing a detailed structural model. However, aligning an element dimension accurately with the structural model and further giving them a 3D perspective was a challenging task.

There were few complex structures in the project to get modeled. The expertise of our structural team helped us model skewed with sloped connections and several other complex structural parts. At several stages of drawing development, the team followed several rounds of review and QC to deliver an error-free drawing to the client.

Process Outline Followed for Developing Erection Drawings by eLogicTech

After receiving the project, we formed a team of 8 Tekla experts and structured a process layout to meet the client's requirements. The process outline for developing the shop and erection drawings is as follows:

01

The Tekla team kicked off a meeting to discuss the schedule and complexity of the structure. And the team raised queries as RFIs against the missing connections and dimensions in the drawing PDFs.

02

Based on the drawing PDFs, the team developed the 3D structural model and individual shop drawings, and erection drawings.

03

At each drawing development stage, we performed a model check such as grid and member placement, connection positioning, etc.

04

When the team received the RFI response, the connections were updated accordingly to drawings releases for a quality check.

05

To produce error-free and precise drawings, we did two-level of QC to address the client's requirement.

06

The drawings were shared with the client for review and modified based on their review comments. Finally, the updated and error-free shop and erection drawings got delivered to the client.
